ZZ Top | Afterburner | 1985

ZZ Top – Afterburner (1985 West German Vinyl LP)

**1985 West German pressing of ZZ Top's *Afterburner*, featuring Record Service Alsdorf matrix markings and MASTERDISK mastering stamps on both sides.**

Released in 1985, *Afterburner* is ZZ Top's ninth studio album and the follow-up to their hugely successful *Eliminator*. It captures the legendary Texas trio at the height of their international popularity, combining their trademark blues-rock guitar sound with the synthesiser-driven production that defined much of their mid-1980s output.

Featuring Billy Gibbons on guitar and vocals, Dusty Hill on bass and vocals, and Frank Beard on drums, the album delivers a distinctive mixture of hard rock, blues influences and polished 1980s production.

Highlights include the powerful opening track *Sleeping Bag*, the infectious *Stages*, the atmospheric ballad *Rough Boy* and the energetic *Velcro Fly*.

Produced by Bill Ham, *Afterburner* became another major international success for ZZ Top and remains an essential part of the band's classic 1980s catalogue.
